Orléans MP Andrew Leslie confirmed in an interview with CBC News that the company plans to take over a giant warehouse proposed for 5371 Boundary Rd., near Highway 417. An application submitted to the city says the facility will be over one million square feet and require 99 truck bays and more than 1,000 parking spaces.
So yesterday I was reading that Amazon is coming to Ottawa. Now I know that we did not get chosen for HQ2 even though it would have been the best place for Amazon to be in. But instead, Amazon will be building a warehouse and it will hire 1,000 workers.
This is great news for the city of Ottawa. And great news for anybody who uses Amazon to get things deliver. As someone who lives in Ottawa I’m happy a tech giant like Amazon is investing in my city, but also I’m happy maybe I will be able to get same-day delivery whenever I order things from Amazon.
